Every Tuesday – River Valley Creative Networking (RVCRN) meeting will take place at Sweet Bay coffee Shop 3400 Rogers Ave. at 8 am.  Come meet with other business owners in your area, to meet greet and grow.  No fees or joining required.  For more information contact Nancy Miller at 479-785-2862

Aug 1- 31 Concert photographs shot by local photographer/writer Scott Smith will be on display at Dewey's Café inside the Main Library during the months of July and August. Since the summer of 2000, Smith has taken photographs of numerous rock, blues, country, pop and R&B concerts for Real Rock News (www.realrocknews.com), American Songwriter, The Magazine of Country Music and the Times Record newspaper. Smith, an Alma resident and Oklahoma State University graduate who plays bass in the local band, Goodluck Slim, has photographed Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, The Who, Elton John, Stevie Nicks, Foo Fighters, Billy Joel, The Eagles, Paul Simon, Garth Brooks, Gregg Allman, Jeff Beck, Pink Floyd's Roger Waters, Aerosmith, Robert Plant, Rush, Journey, Kiss, Coldplay, Grace Potter, Bad Company, Guns N' Roses, Brian Wilson, Blues Traveler, Santana, Gary Clark Jr., Kid Rock, Cheap Trick, Styx and others Artwork is available for viewing all hours that the library is open.  Dewey Café Fort Smith Public Library, 3201 Rogers Avenue, Fort Smith,

 

Aug 1-31  A bottled water drive for the Day Room at Next Step Homeless Services will be held during the month of August at all Fort Smith Public Library locations.  Bottled water is essential for homeless clients, especially those unsheltered. As we face much w armer weather, staying hydrated remains a daily challenge for the homeless.  Cases of individual-sized bottles (16 ounces) are desired; feel free to drop off your donations at your neighborhood library.  The Next Step Homeless Services opened in Fort Smith in 2002.

Aug 11 Touch a Truck Story Time Area children are invited to participate in this extra-special touch-a-truck storytime at the Miller Branch Library.  Participants will first learn about firetrucks with stories, activities, and other truck-related fun.  Children will then be able to visit the library parking lot to touch a real firetruck! 10A.M. Aug 17 The public is invited to attend the 8th annual Secchi Day on Beaver Lake, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, at Prairie Creek Recreation Area, 9300 N. Park Road, Rogers. Prairie Creek is located just a few miles east of Rogers on Hwy. 12. This family friendly “science day at Beaver Lake” includes hands-on water science and ecology fun for all ages, as well as snacks, lunch and ice cream. Join us for this information session, state wide organizations will discuss ways they can assist you with the steps necessary to work with the government.
